The 2021 Early Childhood Education and Care National Workforce Census report provides a national overview of the early childhood education and care workforce.
The 2021 census collected information from child care services on staff, service usage, children with additional needs and access to preschool programs.
The information collected assists the Australian Government to develop and implement early childhood and child care policy.
This is the fourth census we have conducted. It saw more people taking part than in previous years.
The 2021 census builds on the results of the earlier censuses and provides a useful picture of the early childhood education and care sector over time.
