The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has released its final report from its inquiry into early childhood education and care (ECEC) pricing.

The final report contains findings related to the costs, prices and competition within Australian ECEC markets.

It also makes recommendations to achieve accessibility and affordability for children and families across Australia.

In October 2022, Treasurer the Hon Dr Jim Chalmers, directed the ACCC to hold an inquiry into ECEC prices.

The ACCC invited final submissions on its second interim report until 29 October 2023. The final submissions were published on the ACCC website on 19 December 2023.

The ACCC provided its final report to the government on 31 December 2023.
