There are many many teachers who leave because of job insecurity. A teacher in a NSW school can work full time in a casual position for literally decades in the same school, without being offered a permanent position. Each end of year they are anxious as to whether there will be a place for them next year. You can't pay a mortgage if you don't have job security. Give our casual teachers a clear path to permanency within a reasonable timeframe.

Strengthening Initial Teacher Education (ITE)

The actions proposed will ensure initial teacher education supports teacher supply and quality.

Teachers would be hugely helped if a full time person was employed in each school to organise excursions, run the band/choir/dance/debating/public speaking etc, organise all the sport carnivals and competitions and do playground duty. The time saved would be incredible.
