Elevating the profession

The actions proposed recognise the value teachers bring to students, communities and the economy.

Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?

HALT changes in different educational settings. Definitely more of a lead in smaller schools. Become more difficult in bigger schools to be a lead.

Improving teacher supply

The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?

The workload of a teacher along with the paperwork, discipline , individual education plans, inclusive education SEN, assessing, parent notification. Reporting of incidents. Orders, planning, self reflection, self evaluation, peer observations.
High achieving students may not be the best teachers. Are they extrovert enough, tolerant of all kinds of people, have great communication skills (both verbal and written).
It’s the workload and stress driving us away.
EA’s are great, but they also need planning and reporting time both individually and collaboratively with teachers.

Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession

The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.
