The Uni Hub Spencer Gulf Port Lincoln University Centre is officially open.

The centre is funded through the Australian Government’s Regional University Centres program.

Regional University Centres help students in regional and remote areas access higher education without having to leave their community. They provide students with study spaces, IT and internet access, and valuable administrative and support services.

There are currently 26 students from Port Lincoln and the surrounding region registered with the Centre.

Uni Hub Spencer Gulf has partnerships with Central Queensland University and Flinders University to support the local delivery of degrees that specifically help address key areas of professional workforce shortage in the region. This includes nursing, engineering, teaching, social work, business and accounting.

Currently, 16 students are enrolled in these locally supported workforce degrees or are undertaking bridging or school-based pathway courses into these degrees.

Uni Hub Spencer Gulf operates four other Regional University Centre sites across South Australia, in Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Kadina and Roxby Downs.

Currently, over 200 students are registered across all of Uni Hub’s sites.

Since the first Centre at Port Pirie opened in 2019, Uni Hub has supported over 500 students across South Australia’s Spencer Gulf region.

Uni Hub Spencer Gulf Port Lincoln is one of eight new Regional University Centres expected to open nationally from 2023. The new Centres are in addition to the 26 Centres already established in all states and the Northern Territory.
