The Youth Advisory Groups provide an opportunity for young people to work with the Government to consult on policies and programs that reflect what matters to young Australians.
Youth Advisory Group members are set to meet in Canberra in March to begin consulting with Government and the Office for Youth.
The members of these Advisory Groups were recently announced with 48 young people appointed to 6 Youth Advisory Groups. Aged 16 to 25, members were selected from more than 800 applications from across Australia, representing the breadth of diversity of young Australians and their experiences.
Youth Advisory Group are run by the Office for Youth and members will work directly with government departments advising on the policies that affect them and other young people.
The 6 Youth Advisory Groups are:
- First Nations Education Youth Advisory Group working with the Department of Education and the National Indigenous Australians Agency
- Creative Industries Youth Advisory Group working with the Office for the Arts
- Employment Youth Advisory Group working with the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations
- Prevention of Gender-Based Violence Youth Advisory Group working with the Department of Social Services
- Civic Engagement Youth Advisory Group working with the Department of Home Affairs
- Safe and Supported Youth Advisory Group working with the Department of Social Services.
