If you have questions about the Pacific Training Group closure, please contact the TPS by emailing support@tps.gov.au or calling 1300 131 798.

International students will have received an email from the TPS to log in to TPS Online. Please log in to your TPS Online account and complete each task in order. You must upload your proof of identity before the TPS can provide you with a list of potential alternative providers or calculate your refund amount.

Face to face meetings were held with international students at the Gold Coast Student HUB on Wednesday 26 July and at the Pyrmont Pacific Training Group campus on Thursday 27 July. Answers to the most frequently asked questions at these meetings are provided at the bottom of this page.

If you are unable to obtain a copy of your students records for the units of study you have already completed, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) may be able to assist. The ASQA website includes information about how ASQA can help students and how to get a copy of your student records.

How many hours can I work now that I am not studying?

As a subclass 500 student visa holder, you can work up to 48 hours per fortnight in Australia when your study is in session.

However, you are permitted to work more than 48 hours per fortnight when your study is not in session.

If you had commenced studying when Pacific Training Group closed and you have not yet commenced studying at an alternative education provider, you can work more than 48 hours per fortnight as your studies are not currently in session.

What proof do I need to give my employer that I can work more than 48 hours per fortnight?

Employers may ask for evidence that you can work more than 48 hours per fortnight.

A letter from the liquidator was emailed to students on Friday 21 July 2023. You can take this letter to your employer as proof of the Pacific Training Group closure and your eligibility to work more than 48 hours per fortnight.

Do I need to apply for a new student visa?

Please check the expiry date of your student visa, which is listed on your visa grant notice. You can also check your visa expiry date by using Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO).

You will not need to apply for a new student visa if:

• You will complete your studies before your current visa expires; and
• You will continue your studies in a course at the same or higher Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level.

You will need to apply for a new student visa if:

• Your current student visa will expire before you complete your studies; or
• You will continue your studies in a course at a lower Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level.

The Visa Application Charge (VAC) will be waived if you apply for a new student visa within 12 months of Pacific Training Group closing (i.e. before 19 July 2024).

Do I have to be enrolled in a new course, or studying in a new course within 3 months?

You must be enrolled in an alternative course within 3 months of Pacific Training Group closing (i.e. before 19 October 2023).
