Australian Universities Accord

The Australian Government has committed to an Australian Universities Accord to drive lasting and transformative reform in Australia’s higher education system, including the higher education research sector.

The objective of the Accord is to devise recommendations and performance targets that will improve the quality, accessibility, affordability and sustainability of higher education, in order to achieve long term security and prosperity for the sector and the nation.

Review of the Australian Research Council Act 2001

The review into the Australian Research Council Act 2001 (ARC Review) has concluded and the final report was released on 20 April 2023.

The Australian Government response was announced on 22 August 2023, in which it agreed, or agreed in principle, to all 10 recommendations of the ARC Review.
