The Draft Action Plan Addressing Gender-based Violence in Higher Education proposes the establishment of a National Student Ombudsman to provide an accessible and trauma-informed pathway for escalated student complaints about their higher education provider.

A National Student Ombudsman would have a role in investigating and resolving student complaints and making recommendations on how higher education provider decisions or processes could be improved.

Stakeholders are now invited to consider the Government’s proposed National Student Ombudsman and to identify any practical issues associated with implementation.
