Commonwealth Teaching Scholarships

The Commonwealth Teaching Scholarships Program (the Program) supports new undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education students with scholarships of up to $40,000. 

In return for a scholarship recipients need to teach in government schools or government-run early learning settings after finishing their degree. Find out if you’re eligible.

Other financial support

There are other scholarships and incentive programs offered by states and territories. To find out more information on state and territory financial support or scholarships visit state and territory education department websites or the Be That Teacher. Higher education institutions may also offer their own scholarships and incentives.

If you apply for a Commonwealth Teaching Scholarship you can also apply for other scholarships or incentive programs. However, you must check that there are no restrictions on you applying for, or accepting, more than one scholarship or program and that you are able to meet the requirements of all programs.

Commonwealth Teaching Scholarships Program deliver on Action 2 under the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan aims to attract high quality candidates into the teaching profession and to help address teacher workforce shortages.
